My 48 years in the field have provided me the opportunity to work effectively with a wide range of clients and problems such that I would be considered a “generalist”, i.e. equipped to be helpful to clients with almost any mental health concern. When approached with a problem that would be better addressed by another professional, I can usually offer some appropriate referrals.
Common presenting concerns in my practice:
Family life struggles
Marital/significant relationship discord
Divorce/uncoupling
Grief and loss
Parenting/Young adult kids not launching
Sexual orientation
Addiction recovery
Trauma and abuse
Spirituality
Work or school life concerns
Depression
Anxiety
Emancipation struggles
Distress secondary to illness
Caregiver fatigue
I am a great believer in the concept of being cared for by the “village” and encourage clients to utilize complementary resources such as meditation, medication, homeopathy, massage, psychological testing, career counseling, spiritual direction, support and therapy groups, classes, etc. to create increased harmony between body, mind, heart and spirit.
I pride myself in continuing to enhance my skills as a therapist by being active in professional organizations, participating in frequent consultation and attending classes, trainings and workshops pertinent to my professional helping role.
